Commercial Septic RepairMaintaining a commercial property is far different than keeping up with your home. You probably already know how to best care for your home’s septic system. Imparting that knowledge to a staff, customers, vendors, and others who frequent your building is a big part of avoiding commercial septic repair. Here are some great tips you can share:

  • Antibacterial products. A septic system needs a perfect balance of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Antibacterial cleaning products, dish soaps, and hand soaps destroy this balance because they kill bacteria. Ban these products from your building and make sure the cleaning company knows not to use them.
  • To flush or not to flush? People don’t flush bad things because they want to force you to get commercial septic repair. Often they just don’t know that facial tissue, paper towels, feminine products, and diapers are a real problem.
  • Kitchen/break areas. Many commercial buildings are built with garbage disposals in the kitchen areas, but that’s not really a good idea. All trash is best bagged and taken to the dumpster instead. Teach people not to put grease and solids down the drains.
  • Water conservation. Tell your staff to alert maintenance at once if they notice a leak. Also ask them to conserve water as much as possible.
